Henrietta Szakonyi - HSZ Education & Advisory for Regenerative Fashion

I guide students, communities, and organizations in reimagining textiles through circular systems, regenerative design, and nature-first strategies – from teaching to strategic consulting.

Intro

I am a Nature-First circular design strategist, educator, and advisor, working at the intersection of sustainability, fashion systems, and social innovation.

With more than a decade of experience in upcycling innovation, modular design, and regenerative fashion systems, I empower students, communities, and organizations to reimagine the future of textiles. I believe true systemic change goes beyond technical circularity – it requires regenerative design that creates systems and products which are emotionally durable, culturally relevant, and built to last.

My work combines research-based facilitation with strategic advisory and hands-on tools – from workshops and curriculum development to co-creative programme design and consulting for brands, institutions, and policy initiatives. My approach is collaborative, systemic, and guided by nature, enabling transformation that connects vision with implementation.

Core Focus Areas

Transformative Education & Teaching

  • Lecturer in sustainable fashion, circular systems, and design for emotional durability

  • Modules in Germany and China – from nature-first design to collection development

  • Cross-cultural teaching across higher education, vocational formats, and adult education programs (Volkshochschule/VHS)

    – empowering students and citizens in sustainable fashion, circular systems, upcycling skills, and the social impact of textiles (1,000+ hours)

Collaborative Programme Development

  • Co-creation of modular toolkits for upcycling and circular prototyping

  • Development of the RECONNECTED software for industry-integrated remanufacturing

  • Design and co-facilitation of participatory learning formats
(e.g., “Hacking the Textile Industry” – a collaborative project between Hochschule Coburg and Rohleder GmbH,

led by Prof. Natalie Weinmann and co-supervised by myself)

Workshops & Facilitation

  • Stakeholder dialogue formats on circularity, textile justice & post-growth design

  • Workshops and talks with institutions like Fairtrade Germany, NAH DRAN (bpb), Gesamtmasche e. V.

  • Visual and tactile education formats exploring textile cycles and emotional value

Research & Impact

  • Threads of Renewal: a documentary research project on fashion as a living system

  • Development of methodologies for material storytelling and regenerative value creation

  • Research fellowships and collaborations across Europe

Recent Highlights:

  • Lecturer, Coburg University: “Design for Nature-First Value Creation in the Textile industry”

  • Co-Lab Framework: Social enterprise model for scalable upcycling without fibre breakdown

  • Threads of Renewal: Documentary exploring emotional, ecological & cultural fashion narratives

  • REMADE Collection: Upcycled capsule collections using 100% post-consumer materials, returns and surplus textiles

Let’s Collaborate

I am open to partnerships and projects that align with my vision of regenerative fashion. I offer:

  • Educational Programs & Lectures: Curriculum design, guest lectures, or long-term teaching engagements at universities and learning institutes

  • Advisory & Consulting: Strategic consulting for companies, NGOs, or city initiatives looking to implement circular economy projects or regenerative product lines

  • Workshops & Speaking: Tailored workshops, keynote speeches, and panel contributions – drawing on my expertise as a Nature-First Design Consultant, Circular Systems Educator, and Facilitator for Regenerative Fashion Innovation. My sessions focus on transformative education & design, emotional durability, upcycling innovation, and policy for sustainable textiles. I believe true systemic change goes beyond technical circularity – it requires regenerative systems and products that are emotionally durable, culturally relevant, and built to last – guided by nature and circular principles.
